Q: What do you get when you combine roadway safety with a free laptop?<\/p>\r\n

A: The unique opportunity to highlight the importance of pedestrian safety for all ages!<\/p>\r\n

The RTC recently teamed up with Pedestrian Safety Nevada to invite students from across Clark County to submit artwork showcasing safety tips that help protect everyone who uses our roadways, whether they drive, take transit, walk, or ride a bike.<\/p>\r\n

The first-place winner is Emi White, a student at Green Valley High School. Emi\u2019s artwork highlights the risk of distracted driving. Her winning design earned her a free MacBook, and her artwork will be featured on bus shelters throughout the valley.<\/p>\r\n

The second-place winner is Anthony Vasquez, a West Career and Technical Academy student whose design emphasized the dangers of impaired driving. Anthony\u2019s digitally-created graphic earned him a free iPad, and his artwork will be showcased inside RTC buses.<\/p>\r\n

The winners were announced at a press conference on Friday, May 5, at Green Valley High School, where the Pedestrian Safety Nevada team surprised Emi with her first-place award and a bus shelter featuring her winning design.<\/p>\r\n

Congratulations to everyone who participated!<\/p>\r\n

Other project partners include the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, UNLV Transportation Research Center, Mainor Wirth Injury Lawyers, The CCSD Safe Routes to School Program, Nevada Department of Transportation, Outfront Media, and Rookie Sites.<\/p>\r\n
