RTC to operate transit system on holiday schedule and urges commuters to plan ahead for heavy traffic this Thanksgiving weekend<\/h1>\r\n

LAS VEGAS \u2013 <\/strong>The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC)<\/a> encourages commuters to plan ahead and anticipate heavy traffic and delays during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. RTC buses will operate on a Sunday schedule for transit service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24 and Saturday schedule for transit service on Family Day, Friday, Nov. 25.<\/p>\r\n

Residents and visitors traveling by car should prepare for longer trips, particularly during peak travel times. To avoid traffic congestion and delays, drivers should note that peak drive times on I- 15 include Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27. Commuters can sign up for traffic alerts<\/a> on the RTC website to access the most up-to-date traffic information.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cThe long holiday weekend typically brings thousands of visitors to our city,\u201d said David Swallow, RTC deputy chief executive officer. \u201cThat means automobile traffic on I-15, particularly between Southern California and Las Vegas, is sure to be heavy. Traveling outside peak hours is a great way to beat the rush, and for those traveling throughout the city, transit is always a convenient and stress-free option.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use RTC\u2019s public transit options to help ease congestion on the roadways. Transit routes valley-wide are available from early morning to late evening, including the Deuce on the Strip, which runs every 15-20 minutes 24 hours a day. Riders can plan trips and purchase passes through the agency\u2019s free rideRTC app.<\/a><\/p>\r\n

For those flying over the holiday weekend, free parking is available at the Centennial Hills Transit Center<\/a> or the South Strip Transit Terminal (SSTT)<\/a>, with direct access to Harry Reid International Airport\u2019s Ground Level Zero at Terminal 1 via the Centennial Express (CX)<\/a> or Route 109 Maryland Parkway<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n
