<\/p>\r\nThis week, \u2018On the Road\u2019 is visiting the City of Las Vegas, which recently invested more than $5.6 million in pedestrian safety and roadway improvements at two locations.<\/p>\r\n
The City of Las Vegas completed roadway improvements on California Avenue in Downtown Las Vegas. This project included widening sidewalks, as well as the addition of shade trees and angled parking. High-visibility crosswalks and upgrading street lighting were also included in these enhancements.<\/p>\r\n

The second project focused on pedestrian safety improvements in three locations: Charleston Boulevard at Cashman Drive, Grand Teton Drive at Thom Boulevard, and Hualapai Way at Neighborhood Trail.<\/p>\r\n
The safety improvements made along each location included the installation of Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacons (RRFB), which flash at a high frequency when activated by pedestrians. These devices will help make pedestrians more visible to drivers. Other upgrades include new crosswalk markings, updates to the ADA sidewalk ramps, and the addition of medians to improve protection for pedestrians and cyclists looking to cross a busy street.<\/p>\r\n
