A new survey, available Thursday, May 19, seeks feedback on design concepts for new transit shelters and shared bus-bike lanes.

With the goal of improving mobility and safety along the Maryland Parkway corridor, the RTC is designing a 13-mile Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line that extends from the South Strip Transit Terminal in the south, to the Las Vegas Medical District in the north. Maryland Parkway is home to 90,000 residents and 80,000 jobs, and carries approximately 9,000 transit riders and 35,000 vehicles daily. It is a vital corridor for the Las Vegas Valley, connecting many high-activity centers including the Harry Reid International Airport, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), The Boulevard Mall, Sunrise Hospital, as well as commercial and residential areas.

Two shelter concepts have been designed and a short survey seeks feedback on various aspects of those designs such as lighting, shade, seating options, comfort, safety, and security. The project will include extending service from Maryland Parkway’s current Route 109 further into downtown and over to the Las Vegas Medical District, upgraded traffic signal control, enhanced transit shelters, landscaping, shared bus-bike lanes, upgraded pedestrian crossings and wider sidewalks. Construction is expected to be complete in 2025.

More information on the entire project can be found on the Maryland Parkway Bus Rapid Transit Project website.

Survey seeks feedback on transit shelter design options Click to Tweet: Design work on system shelters is in progress on the Maryland Parkway Bus Rapid Transit project and @RTCSNV needs […]

"mc4wp_mailchimp_campaign":[

2

post-8200","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-press-releases
["GET
