Sahara Ave. (SX \u2013 Sahara Express), both considered backbones of the community and popular commercial corridors. Many of these \u201cMom and Pop\u201d businesses depend on transit to bring employees to work and customers to their door.<\/p>\r\n<p>On March 29, National Mom and Pop Business Day, we salute one such business that has been around since 1966!\u00a0 Heddy\u2019s Fabrics, located at 5411 W. Charleston Blvd., is a Las Vegas legacy.\u00a0 Owner Heidi Harrington says her mother, Heddy, a German native, first opened the store in 1966 with ten bolts of fabric in a tiny storefront just up the street from Heddy\u2019s current locale.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cAt the time, the only places to find fabric in Las Vegas were drug stores that carried just cotton fabrics.\u201d\u00a0 My mom, who was definitely ahead of her time and considered a pioneering businesswoman, saw a need and got to it.
