As the Las Vegas National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Chapter proudly mark 60 years of supporting Las Vegas architectural, engineering and construction industry, they joined women around the globe this week to celebrate the 24th<\/sup> anniversary of Women in Construction Week, also known as WIC Week (#WICWeek).<\/p>\r\n

Established in 1998 by NAWIC, the week is an opportunity to celebrate, educate, and promote the role of women in the construction industry. This year\u2019s theme, Envision Equity<\/em>, focused on raising awareness about the wide range of opportunities and roles available for women, including tradeswomen, project managers, administrative positions and business ownership.<\/p>\r\n

Throughout WIC week there have been in-person and virtual events, both nationally and locally highlighting powerful and influential women who have impacted the industry, resources for personal and business development, and so much more.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Las Vegas NAWIC kicked the week off with an \u2018Equipment Operator\u2019 event hosted by Ahern Rentals, along with community service activities including an exclusive job walk at the new MSG Sphere near the Las Vegas Strip, and the 3rd<\/sup> annual Hammers & Hope event which is a free event geared towards highlighting the many construction career opportunities for women in the community.<\/p>\r\n

For decades, construction has been a male-dominated industry and women continue to face a wide range of biases and barriers. Las Vegas NAWIC joins other women nationally in their efforts to continue to \u201cstrengthen and amplify the success of women in the construction industry\u201d<\/em> by way of educational and business development resources, networking and mentoring opportunities with other industry professionals, education of youth and support through scholarships and more.<\/p>\r\n
