Now the winning works of art are on display on RTC buses!

Did you know, in order for recycling to be effective, it must be done properly? Any recyclable placed in your recycling bin should be:

Empty of all its contents.

Clean and rinsed if needed.

Dry before placed in the recycling bin.

While all bottles, cans and containers should be clean, dry and free of most food waste before you place them in your recycling container, they don’t need to be spotless. The goal is to make sure they are clean enough to avoid contaminating other materials.

As part of the contest, students were encouraged to incorporate the three-step rule, “Empty, Clean, and Dry” into their artwork. The entries were categorized by grade level and judged based on originality, visual clarity, clear messaging, and adherence to the theme.

In addition to having their posters on display inside select RTC transit buses, the winners also received cash prizes for themselves and their classroom.
