Two different projects include new lighting equipment that not only creates a safer environment at otherwise dark bus stops, but also increases visibility, allowing bus drivers approaching the stop to better see waiting passengers.

The RTC is leveraging $4 million in federal grant funding to pay for the projects and has spent $22.4 million since 2008 to help improve bus and bus stop safety for our transit passengers.

1,100 bus shelters with lighting system

The RTC has been installing a robust lighting system at nearly 1,100 bus shelters throughout the valley.
