LAS VEGAS \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0In conjunction with the 8th<\/sup> annual United for Infrastructure (UFI) Sept. 14-21, formerly National Infrastructure Week, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC)<\/a> and community partners are elevating the importance of the region\u2019s infrastructure with special events. In light of the health and economic repercussions of the pandemic, highlighting the region\u2019s ongoing infrastructure projects is more important now than ever, as they provide jobs to Southern Nevadans and will positively contribute to the local economy for years to come.<\/p>\r\n

The RTC join hundreds of other UFI affiliates nationwide raising awareness about the foundational role infrastructure plays in building and ensuring the economic vibrancy of communities. While the pandemic has forced in-person events online, it has not impeded the nationwide effort to underscore the importance of infrastructure to communities, economies and access and equality. UFI 2020 takes infrastructure to the next level to #RebuildBetter and brings many voices together to act and speak to the importance of our nation\u2019s critical infrastructure assets.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cThis year, the COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected our health and economy, and widespread discussions about racial injustice have rocked every corner of our society,\u201d said M.J. Maynard. \u201cBut this unique time in history also presents an opportunity to improve the transportation resources that all Americans need to help reduce barriers to jobs, education and essential services.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

The RTC remains committed to investing in and planning for the future of our infrastructure that will benefit all Southern Nevadans. While our new normal will make things a little different this year, we are introducing initiatives and highlighting the potential opportunities and amazing work happening in our community that is allowing us to build a better and brighter Southern Nevada:<\/p>\r\n

Thursday, Sept. 10 \u2013 Inspiring Infrastructure Blog Series<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Ahead of the official launch of United for Infrastructure<\/a>, we are launching a weeklong blog series<\/a> dedicated to the men and women who have been powering through a public health and economic crisis to build a better future for Southern Nevadans.<\/p>\r\n

Monday, Sept. 14 \u2013 Seeing Orange Website Revamped <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The RTC has updated its Seeing Orange website<\/a> to better inform you about construction projects and traffic signals. If you see a construction or traffic signal issue, we\u2019ve upgraded our comment system for quicker responses to inquiries.<\/p>\r\n

Thursday, Sept. 17 \u2013 Urban Chamber of Commerce Contract Connections<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The RTC is collaborating with the Urban Chamber of Commerce<\/a> for its annual Contract Connections event, connecting small businesses with corporations and public agencies and providing one-on-one opportunities to learn how to be competitors in the infrastructure industry.<\/p>\r\n

Friday, Sept. 18 \u2013 RiSE (Resources, Involvement, Support, Education) Program Launch<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

In its continual commitment to diversity and inclusion, the RTC will be officially launching the RiSE program<\/a> during the Latin Chamber of Commerce<\/a> virtual luncheon. The program aims to put local small and diverse businesses to work on RTC-funded projects.<\/p>\r\n
