It comes in many forms and makes for a visually pleasing experience while walking or riding to your next destination.

Throughout the years, the RTC has teamed up with local artists to bring their talents, not only to transit centers, but also to bus stop shelters around town.

Transit riders can check out a mural by downtown Las Vegas resident Mark Melnick, called “You Are Here” inside the Westcliff Transit Center (WTC). His art features maps of the region and scenery paintings of downtown Las Vegas and the surrounding mountains. The project took Mark about three months to complete – from the time he first started painting until the installment. Mark has been an artist for over thirty years and works with children and young adults to introduce them to mural painting.

“There’s a lot of places that aren’t as pretty as they could be but when I see the buildings that have the murals and the public art, it just absolutely brightens the whole neighborhood. I think there should be more of it,” said Jason, a rider who frequents the WTC.

If you live or work in the west part of the valley, the WTC provides easy access to the airport via the WAX or many shopping and dining opportunities at Tivoli Village or Boca Park via the 121 and WAX.

Stay tuned for future features on the art in other transit centers and shelters!

If you’re ever at one of our transit centers, take a moment to admire the public art that adorns some of our facilities.
