Click to Tweet:<\/a> .@RTCSNV gets #USDOT grant to provide latest onboard camera technology for #transitriders plus maintenance enhancements #RTCSNV<\/p>\r\n\u00a0LAS VEGAS \u2013 The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has been selected for a $7.475 million Bus and Bus Facilities grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). The RTC will use the funding to replace and update current security cameras and software on its fixed-route and Paratransit fleet in addition to improving its bus washing system.<\/p>\r\n
After the grant awarding process is completed within three to six months, the RTC will upgrade cameras and software for 811 vehicles in its total fleet. In addition, a new wash facility for its Paratransit vehicles will be built and the existing wash facility will be rehabilitated, as it is 10 years old and currently the only such facility for all buses and Paratransit units. Both projects will take up to two years to complete.<\/p>\r\n

Providing the latest technology in onboard livestreaming security cameras and software supports our top priority to provide a safe and reliable transit experience for visitors and residents alike.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
Maynard added that the new wash facility for the shorter 26-foot Paratransit units will free up the bus washing facility, which is designed for 40-and-60-foot vehicles. Rehabilitating it now is critical, she said, because \u201cit is at the end of its life cycle.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
