The mood was electric as the newest RTC buses were introduced to the community on Nov. 1. The RTC marked the occasion with Representative Dina Titus (D-NV), NV Energy and the Nevada Conservation League by pushing the \u201con\u201d button to turn on one of four new battery electric buses.<\/p>\n

The new battery electric buses represent the agency\u2019s commitment to innovation, sustainability and reduction of emissions in a number of different ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n

  • Environmental benefits \u2013 the technology produces no tailpipe emissions reducing the community\u2019s carbon footprint.<\/li>\n
  • Cost savings \u2013 this innovative technology has fewer moving parts which means it is less expensive to operate.<\/li>\n
  • Energy efficiency \u2013 the vehicles are extremely energy efficient, converting a significant amount of energy into motion, reducing waste and dependence on fossil fuels.<\/li>\n
  • Enhanced passenger experience \u2013 the buses make very little noise and provide a smoother, vibration-free ride.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    On hand for the celebration at the Nevada Conservation League offices were Rep. Titus, NV Energy Vice President Marie Steele, Nevada Conservation League Executive Director Kristee Watson, RTC Board Chair and Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, RTC CEO M.J. Maynard and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n

    The new vehicles were made possible thanks to increased federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and NV Energy\u2019s Economic Recovery Transportation Electrification Plan.<\/p>\n

    The four new buses, along with two hydrogen fuel cell electric buses that were added to the fleet in 2023, signify a pivotal moment in RTC\u2019s 30 year-history of providing transit and demonstrate the agency\u2019s commitment to its goal of converting to a zero-emission fleet.<\/p>\n
