Nevada was admitted to the Union as the 36<sup>th<\/sup> state on Oct. 31, 1864. While the Nevada Day holiday was originally celebrated yearly on that date, it is now observed on the last Friday of the month &#8211; Oct. 27 this year.<\/p>\n<p>With schools closed and many individuals off work, it\u2019s a great opportunity to hop on transit, learn more about our great state, and take advantage of some cool deals.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grab the family for a day of fun including crafts, gold panning, Silver State trivia, and more at the birthplace of Las Vegas \u2013 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springspreserve.org\/events\/?id=2389\">Las Vegas Springs Preserve<\/a>. Nevada residents receive FREE admission on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can get there using RTC Valley View Route 104 or RTC Alta\/Stewart Route 207.<\/li>\n<li>Learn about the history and heritage of the state at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasvegasnvmuseum.org\/event\/nevada-day-at-the-nevada-state-museum-las-vegas\/\">Nevada State Museum<\/a>. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., they will feature special activities and gallery pop-ups. Hop on RTC Valley View Route 104 or RTC Alta\/Stewart Route 207 to get there.<\/li>\n<li>All aboard! The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boulderrailroadmuseum.org\/event\/nevada-day-weekend-2\/\">Nevada State Railroad Museum<\/a> is offering FREE train rides for kids 17 and under on Oct. 28 &amp; 29.
