As Las Vegas prepares to mark the sixth anniversary of the Oct. 1, 2017 mass shooting on the Strip, the focus will be on honoring victims and survivors, as well as paying tribute to their families. Sadly, the event has the unfortunate distinction as the country\u2019s worst mass shooting with 58 people killed and more than 800 wounded that evening. But in the days, weeks, months and years following that horrific event, Las Vegas has come together to prove its resiliency and not forget those whose lives were lost and affected.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for an opportunity to participate, see the list below of some of the remembrance events scheduled this week as sourced from the Las Vegas Sun: <\/em><\/p>\n

A fundraiser for Play it Forward in Honor of Quinton Robbins<\/strong> is 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at Chicken Shack on 110 N. Boulder Highway.<\/strong> Robbins, then 20, was one of the shooting\u2019s youngest fatalities. The foundation, which provides funding and equipment for youth sports in Henderson, will receive 20% of the day\u2019s dine-in and takeout proceeds. The United Way of Southern Nevada will host a Spanish-language ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at 5830 W. Flamingo Road.<\/strong> It will include food, drinks, music and the opportunity to gather with family members of those affected by the shooting. The annual Jus Run Vegas Strong 5K and 1-mile races are 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Llama Lot at 900 Fremont Street.<\/strong> All the net proceeds will go to different victim funds, including the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center. The annual 1 October Sunrise Remembrance Ceremony is 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Clark County Government Center amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. <\/strong>The event will feature live country music, an honor guard, a minute of silence for those who lost their lives and remarks from officials, including Gov. Joe Lombardo. The ceremony will be aired live on Clark County television (channel 4 on Cox Cable), and on the county\u2019s\u00a0Facebook<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0YouTube<\/a> social media pages. The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, in partnership with Downtown Summerlin and blood drive service Vitalant, will host a blood drive 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 outside City National Arena off South Pavilion Center Drive. <\/strong>Donors must make appointments in advance by entering the code \u201cVGK\u201d at\u00a0donors.vitalant.org<\/a>. The city of Las Vegas will host a ceremony at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden, 1015. S. Casino Center Blvd. <\/strong>Mayor Goodman will read aloud the names of each fatal victim of the attack. A bell will toll and a candle will be lit in remembrance of each victim.
