RTC Urges Commuters to Plan Ahead for Heavy Traffic and Holiday Transit Schedule Memorial Day Weekend

LAS VEGAS – In observance of Memorial Day, The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) will follow a Sunday schedule for all fixed-route transit service on Monday, May 31, and is encouraging commuters to plan accordingly in preparation for heavy traffic and delays throughout the weekend.

Those looking to utilize public transit service during the holiday weekend can purchase passes through the free rideRTC app, where users have the ability to plan trips and buy passes through a contactless and convenient mobile application.

“The RTC is thrilled to see Las Vegas tourism rebound, as we welcome back visitors to our city,” said M.J. Maynard, RTC chief executive officer. “As a reminder, we will still be implementing numerous COVID-19 precautions, including federally mandated masks, nightly vehicle sanitation, ion air-cleaners, and live, up-to-the- minute passenger count data to assess the need for additional buses to ensure safe and accessible transit for all our riders this holiday weekend.”

For residents and visitors traveling by car in and out of town, the RTC’s regional traffic management center advises mapping out travel plans ahead of time in anticipation for longer commutes. Service routes such as the Deuce on the Strip, which runs every 15-20 minutes 24 hours a day, also offer convenience and ease to help riders move accessibly throughout Las Vegas’ Resort Corridor.

For those flying over the holiday weekend, free parking is available at the Centennial Hills Transit Center or the South Strip Transit Terminal (SSTT), with direct access to McCarran International Airport’s Ground Level Zero at Terminal 1 via the Centennial Express (CX) or Route 109 Maryland Parkway.
