When we think of infrastructure, what comes to mind? Roads, bridges, buildings and dams, to name a few. But sometimes infrastructure isn’t simply asphalt and concrete. Sometimes it’s the technology that keeps infrastructure operating to the benefit of the community.
The Active Traffic Management (ATM) system was a valuable transportation infrastructure investment through Project Neon, the largest public works project in Nevada’s history. The 42 LED signs allow Southern Nevada’s Traffic Management Center staff to manage congestion, especially when lanes are blocked due to incidents and construction.
Brian Hoeft, RTC’s Traffic Management Center director, explains what we’ve been able to achieve with the ATM system:
