COVID-19 continues to impact our world and the world of our children every day, particularly when it comes to school. In the wake of COVID-19, most of Nevada’s public schools are starting the school year with online classes, but not all Nevada students have access to the equipment they need to succeed in this new environment. That’s why we created Connecting Kids Nevada.
It’s our ambition to connect every Nevada student in need with reliable internet service and devices for the 2020-2021 school year. Now more than ever, it takes a village to teach a child. Together as Nevadans, we must quickly mobilize to spread the word about Connecting Kids to ensure that all our children are set up for success by the first day of school.
In the Clark County School District alone, there are 312,000 students. To ensure that all 312,000 of those kids have a connection to school, we’re holding an emergency roll call. If you have a CCSD student, we need you to fill out a short survey at ConnectingKidsNV.org – even if your child has access to the internet and a device. We need to hear from 100% of students in order to serve every student before school starts.
In the meantime, if you need an internet connection or a device for your child or know someone else in need, call the Family Support Center at 888-616-2476 for help.
No child should miss out on a single day of virtual instruction because he or she does not have a computer or access to the internet. It has been gratifying to see our community rally around our children in their time of need. Please help us get the word out about the resources available – let’s connect our kids!
